A couple of notes about Kenya prices (For the record $1 = 76KSh). This is somewhat expensive here (I would say price are somewhat similar to what you can find on occidental countries) but you can eat VERY well for 250KSh and sleep for about 500KSh.
If you want to eat on the streets, it of course cost less, Just as an idea 1 banana is 5KSh, 1 orange is 7KSh. This is a rough price.
That said, by all means staying in Kenya is not terribly expensive, what will kill the budget is all the safaris. Keep in mind that park fees are around $23 / day in National Parks and you can hardly find a safari under $70 / day (all included, guide, accommodation, meals, transport, entrance fees, ... ) and if you want to climb Mount Kenya you might think more about something like $50 / day.
One well known budget safari agency in Nairobi is Gametrackers.
About diving... expect Seychelles prices: $40+ per dive.
