Koh Tao, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan & Co

No need to spend more time than necessary in Bangkok, I need some sun and water to chill out. I'm leaving tonight to Koh Tao,a famous island in the east coast, south of the Gulf Of Thailand. I should leave by bus at 8PM from Bangkok, arrive at 5AM at the pier, take a ferry and put my feet on the island by 7:30AM.

It looks like there are a bit less people right now in Koh Tao as everyone is heading to Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party (august 13). This is a popular event that lasts from dusk until dawn were generally some people get a little bit high on the atmosphere using strange intoxicating substances. So that might be the place to go to speak with someone flying high and that witnessed a pink dragon fighting a blue elephant in a mushroom field.

I'm thinking more and more about stopping in the Perhentian islands in Malaysia on my way to Singapore. I'm not very optimistic about the scene in Koh Tao, Koh Samui and such. This is probably severelly packed and diving must be terrible as the dive centers must probably accommodate thousands of tourists willing to do their Open Water course. On about 10 dive centers I contacted via email to enquire about the conditions, only one dared to reply. That might be a good indication of how good is their customer service.

On the other hand, I have had a nice and extremely detailed email from Erika of Coral Sky Diver who gave me loads of information about the place including transport, accommodation and diving.
