Wadi Rum Pictures

The Wadi Rum desert is the desert of Lawrence of Arabia. Some monuments here are somewhat doubtful to me as I do not see much how house ruins in a very windy and sandy corridor located miles away from two water springs can be seen as ‘Lawrence house’…mmm…

In any case the desert is absolutely amazing as it is full of geological formations beautifully carved by the wind. The colors also give a very strong impression to which my pictures can hardly do justice.

I spent the night in the desert sleeping in a beduin tent. I was there with a French couple of an us/australian one and let me tell you that this is very tiring. The French could hardly speak and understand english and of course the us/australian could not understand French (only the US girl could as she worked in Disneyland Paris). Anyway, I was in between and we could not make a whole chat at 5 each time. Frustrating. :-(

Oh and one more thing, there are quite many French right now in Jordan and roughly I think it was probably more than 50% tof the tourists I met (very easily spottable as most of them seem to be sponsored by Quechua or Millet)

That said there are virtually no tourists in Jordan. Let’s say about 20 maximum in a day at Petra and we were 5 at the Wadi Rum and they were 3 the day before. So if you want to visit Jordan this is a good time.
